Every requirement differs from fleet to fleet and we devise our services in such a way that there are unique solutions for each fleet. Our asset is knowledge of the industry and we implement every bit of it to offer the finest ship inspection and project management services.

1. ISM – ISPS – MLC Audit

The International Safety Management Code (ISM) mandates that shipping companies have procedures for both internal and external audits to ensure compliance with the Safety Management System (SMS). Internal audits are crucial for measuring the effectiveness of these systems, as companies have more to gain or lose from their outcomes than external audit bodies. The ISM Code specifies that companies must conduct internal safety audits at intervals not exceeding twelve months to verify compliance with safety and pollution-prevention activities. Our reports precisely identify non-conformities and provide practical solutions for compliance. Clients often combine Internal ISM Audits with Internal ISPS and MLC Audits. The ISPS Code, part of the SOLAS convention, outlines security responsibilities for governments and shipping companies to prevent security incidents. Similarly, the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) 2006 sets minimum requirements for seafarers, covering employment conditions, accommodations, and welfare. Our independent MLC audits ensure the effectiveness of a company’s management system, identifying non-conformities and offering realistic solutions.

2. SAILING NAVIGATIONAL AUDITS & ASSESSMENT

The biggest risk facing a ship owner is a major navigational incident in spite of the fact that the techniques for safe navigation are well known. When these techniques are professionally executed, navigational risks are reduced Navigational audits are a requirement of TMSA, RISQ 3.0 and becoming more and more common in other trades. For example; Oil Tankers, Container Vessels, Bulk carriers etc.

Kindly get in touch with us to discuss your particular requirements on Real time Navigation Audits & Remote Navigation Audits.

In addition to audit verifications, an assessment will additionally observe and evaluate the practices and skill sets of the individuals and bridge team to provide assurance of standards of navigation.By our Navigational assessments we help vessel owners, operators and masters to identify areas for improvement and increase safety. We also assure companies that high standards of navigation and watchkeeping are properly being maintained. We use assessments as an opportunity to look at how navigators actually work as a team on board, rather than just in a simulated environment.

At Kenter Maritime we observe and evaluate the practices and skill sets of the individuals and bridge team to provide assurance of standards of navigation. We incorporate the need of the modern navigational assessment to evaluate how well both individual members and the team cope with challenging and complex situations.

3. VDR ANALYSIS & REMOTE NAVIGATION AUDIT

A Remote Navigation Audit provides an objective independent check by an auditor that the correct procedures are being followed on board. The human element is generally acknowledged to be a major factor in many shipping incidents and accidents therefore, a remote navigation audit reduces the risk of future incidents/accidents from occurring.Few of the many items which form a part of the VDR analysis report are

Introduction of the event for which VDR / SVDR analysis is being done

  • Complete background of the situation
  • Explanation of event
  • Screenshots and pointers for each critical explanation
  • All Good Practices undertaken
  • All Observations/ NC/ Near Misses occurred
  • Reference of Rules & Regulations each of above is not complying
  • Suggestions for Good practices
  • Training needs & Scope of Improvement
  • Comparative analysis of vessel with fleetwide vessels
  • Assessment of bridge team basis Human Element

With our statistical approach of analysis, owners will be able to:

  • Observe lapses in Navigational Practices being followed on board
  • Ensure QMS compliance & standards set by company
  • Identify training requirements
  • Specific to any rank
  • Specific to navigational practices
  • In general, for a group of vessels (if group vessel data is shared or complete fleet is analysed by our team)
  • Raise Navigational Safety standards of vessel
  • Reduce Navigational Near Misses/ Incidents

5. BUNKERING OPERATION AUDIT

Bunker Audits are introduced and undertaken onboard the vessel prior to stemming bunkers to ascertain bunker quantities by independent surveyors to prevent bunker misappropriation.

In the present market, bunker cost is the largest operating expense in any voyage. In general, it is estimated at approximately 40% – 50% of total voyage expense. With such high costs, it becomes imperative for the Operators/ Charterers to know exact bunker quantity onboard vessels at the time of supplying bunkers.

Bunker Stem Audits are carried out by our experienced surveyors on behalf of operators to ascertain exact bunker quantity onboard.

To avoid fuel losses experienced surveyors (Bunker Detective) offer impartial, independent quantity measurement inspection services for marine fuels, issuing detailed bunker survey reports to ascertain the exact fuel quantity onboard at the time of survey and report any bunker fuel shortages.

Bunker stem audit is an essential loss control tool –especially for operators with a large fleet such as vessel pools.

6. ENERGY EFFICIENCY AUDIT

An Energy Efficiency Audit under ISO 50001 (Energy Management Systems) involves systematically reviewing and improving energy performance. It starts with an energy assessment to identify consumption patterns and inefficiencies. This is followed by setting energy objectives and implementing an energy management plan which is SEEMP, EEXI & EEDI etc.

Regular monitoring and measurement ensure continuous improvement. Compliance with ISO 50001 enhances fuel efficiency, reduces emissions, and lowers operational costs, promoting sustainable maritime practices.

An Environmental Compliance under ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) involves a systematic evaluation of the vessel’s adherence to environmental management standards. The audit checks for compliance with regulations related to pollution prevention, waste management, and emission controls. It ensures the ship’s operations minimize environmental impact through effective procedures and practices.

The audit includes reviewing documentation, inspecting equipment, and verifying corrective actions. Successful audits demonstrate the ship’s commitment to continuous environmental improvement and regulatory compliance.
